EduPED

Kick-off meeting - The Hague

Even as our world continues to change rapidly in 2025, it’s incredibly encouraging to see knowledge institutions and city governments standing together, firmly committed to sustainability and climate justice in our urban areas. This powerful collaboration was clear during this week’s events at De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

The research groups Future Urban Systems and Energy in Transition, both integral to the Centre of Expertise Mission Zero at De Haagse Hogeschool, successfully kicked off the European Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) eduPED project.

The eduPED project is an ambitious initiative focused on leveraging educational campuses situated in city centers as crucial drivers for the transition towards Positive Energy Districts (PEDs). This groundbreaking project is led by De Haagse Hogeschool in close collaboration with a consortium of esteemed partners:

  • Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)
  • Politecnico di Torino
  • Technische Universität Graz
  • Universitatea Tehnică din Cluj-Napoca
  • Romania Green Building Council
  • DiLT Analytics

Furthermore, the project receives vital support from Gemeente Den Haag and the municipal governments of Terrassa, Turin, Graz, and Cluj-Napoca, highlighting a shared vision for greener, more resilient urban environments.

This collaborative endeavor underscores the critical role that universities and local authorities play in shaping a sustainable future for our cities. We look forward to sharing our progress and the impactful outcomes of the eduPED project as we work together to drive urban transitions towards positive energy districts.
